|I had the same symptoms for years with my LX6810-01 that Eviloreo mentioned in another discussion post on this site from 2011. Occasionally other symptoms also occurred, like hanging on shut down, freezing, or shutting down on its own. Bottom line, yesterday I followed Texas Big Ed's advice (2011) and purchased a new PSU, Corsair 500 watt unit (from Microcenter-$45 after rebate ), and low and behold, all untoward symptoms have resolved! |
I tried multiple other remedies over the past years suggested on other discussions e.g., added a heat sink to the motherboard, updated the BIOS, swapped out the memory sticks, tried different video card, etc., to no avail. This is the first time in years that my computer boots up and shuts down properly each and every time (X10) I have done so. I will post back if symptoms return. I was ready to buy a $700 replacement computer prior to this!
Last note, I unplugged the four-pin motherboard power connection on one reboot and this reproduced the symptoms, thus supporting the PSU as the problem rather than some intermittent working other device, e.g video card. I'm keeping all fingers crossed that this ends my travails with this computer. It has been a frustrating journey!!
