Is there anyway I can reflash a bios that Gateway has locked with their own bios version? I have a intel845grg motherboard but whenever I use intel's flash bios program it says invalid version... I know absolutely the board is 845grg and find every board I read saying its set to Gateways...

I saw a familar dell post http://forum.pcstats.com/archive/index.php/t-21656.html and wondered am I screwed into buying a new mobo if I must do this?

Did you check the version of the BIOS your trying to flash with the version your trying to update? Are you sure its a newer version you are trying to put on?

Why do you want to flash the BIOS?

You may end up killing the MB. Gateway probably has a custom BIOS chip, or at the very least, a custom .bin file. If the latter one then it may be possible to flash with a non Gateway bios file. Still risky though.
