Gateway DX4300-11 Desktop PC will not turn on.

Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
I have a DX4300-11 and it will not turn on. A little history, I had to restore the system to factory settings because of a freezing and software issue. Soon after the PC shut itself down because of the setting and it would not come on. I then unplugged it from the wall and plugged it back in a few times and after the fourth time it came on. So, I set the PC where it did not shut off and had no problems with it until I had to turn it off going on vacation. When I returned now the PC will not come on at all now for the past couple of days. Do you guys thing it could be a power supply issue or something else?

The power supply would be the first thing to look at. Numerous attempts get it to turn on is a sure sign the power supply is struggling to cope and now it appears to have given up altogether.

Try getting you hands on a know good power supply to test it but I think that will be the problem.

Your computer is an Acer/Gateway/eMachines so it's a good bet the power supply is bad.

Since you've already gone through most of the restore procedures, i agree with StuartS and riider.

My experience in the past:
gateway = crappy PSU's. Besides the fact that OEM parts these days are not quite as robust.

Open it up and check the wattage of the PSU. if it seems to be at fault, buy a NEW psu that has a rating of 50-100 watts higher than your current one. It'll reduce stress.

I assume you're trying to start it with the button on front? not any kind of wake-on-Lan or something?
