Would like to buy a new widescreen 24 inch lcd to upgrade my old crt for games. Recently built computer and now time for a new monitor. Wondering what anyone can reccommend for an excellent 24 inch lcd thats great for gaming. Any suggestions appreciated in advance.

I don't know any but I can tell you that you will be amazed at how clearer lcd screens are compared to crt.

Try to get one with a dvi imput.

(mine only has vga but looks miles better than my crt)

not sure I agree with prohunter. In the past CRT screens (assuming not faulty and not out of focus- some do go out of focus over time) were better than LCD/TFT, but LCD/TFT have come a long way in the last couple of years and have caught up with CRT. I personally would not say the image is clearer, maybe just equal.
BUT LCD/TFT has the limitation of having to run at its native resolution to be clear, any other resolution is not as clear.
CRT does not have this problem, the CRT screen is like a blank canvas and is not restricted by the pixel layout like LCD/TFT is.

Longspur,

You need to be aware that most games simply aren't designed with today's widescreen aspect ratios as the article in the link below will show. The article also has instructions how you can set up your video card to achieve the best resolution.

If your card isn't configurable, I recommend that you forget about buying the widescreen if you want to avoid disappointments.
