Ok well this problem started like 3 weeks ago roughly where games would crash quite a bit. I got fed up and upgraded from my geforce fx5200 to a Ati radeon X700 pro. This has now fixed anything, I did a complete system reboot with my disks provided and still to no avail. I have the most stable drivers I can get my hands on but im wondering if its possibly my audio card? or my 300 watt power supply causing the problems.

Iv done system scans with DXdiag and it shows no problems.

This is an error iv gotten 7 times now playing Brothers in arms:

Build: (null)

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 2218 MHz [1756466380800.000000 0] with 1023MB RAM
Video: RADEON X700 Series (6512)

General protection fault!

History: RenderLevel <- FLevelSceneNode::Render <- FPlayerSceneNode::Render <- UGameEngine::Draw <- UWindowsViewport::Repaint <- UWindowsClient::Tick <- UGameEngine::Tick <- UGameEngine::Tick <- CMainLoop::RunLoop <- MainLoop

Every other game I'v played has crashed to desktop to with varrying errors or none at all. I got a repeated error with one game about a buffer override problem or something?. Anyway I have no idea what to do I'm stumped so if anyone can help me out it'd be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Check your temperatures. Games are very CPU intensive and tend to heat up the system.

I would guess that your system is really working your power supply. 300W is kind of small and some cheaper ones aren't very stable. I could not run a high-end 128MB AGP card, 2 hard drives and a CD-ROM, sound card and network card on a system with a 350W rated PSU. One voltage rail was just going a little over the amps produced by the power supply and I would get random reboots of the system. Replaced it with a 500W and it's been stable ever since.
Check AMPs available on each voltage. Usually on the PSU label.

Rule #1 Good computers don't go down.
Rule #2 There is no such thing as a good computer.
