Comment:

I'm working on a friend's Gigabyte motherboard with an Athlon XP 3000+ and one 512mb stick of Crucial RAM. It keeps booting up at 1700XP speeds, regardless of what settings I enter for the system bus and ram settings. I can't find any helpful information in the manual or the Gigabyte website FAQ for this board. Anyone have any suggestions? It should be booting at something like 2.1667ghz, but it always boots as a 1700XP.

Thanks in advance for any help.

What is the MB model? Has this system previously run at expected clock speeds using the present RAM? If not, you may require a BIOS update, assuming the MB s capable of supporting the processor.

You really need to read the manual as it has a jumper for FSB page 16

It's a GA-7NNXP, as listed in the subject line :)

I've tried setting that jumper and it refuses to boot at all at the on/auto setting. Gigabyte's documentation is pretty terrible, too, so if anyone has any insights here, please share. It's difficult to figure out the proper settings for a picky motherboard when the documentation is written in Engrish. :/

It's an Athlon XP 3000+, GA-7NNXP, and it should be running at 2167mhz with an FSB of 166.
