Comment:

I installed a brand new GA-7N400 Pro2 mobo today and everything looks alright. I cannot seem to get the damn thing to boot up. I hit the power button and I see the mobo LED (the one on the board itself) go on AND I see the front power LED go on. Now, I hear and see no fans spinning, no hard drive activity of any kind, no nothing. I just see two LED's go on and nothing else. I have tried moving the RAM (I am using only one 512 stick) around and switching the clock switch (CLK_SW) to Auto and Force 100MHz and nothing works. I have removed the PCI devices and disconnected all non essential devices from the mobo. I got no idea what went wrong. plz help!

Any chance the power switch connection on the MOBO is incorrectly connected?

Did you use the standoffs when you installed the board? If you didn't it may be shorting out on the case. Make sure you only used them where there is a hole in the mobo to accomodate the standoffs. Like Badboy said, check the PWR_SW connections. Did you plug in the 4-pin power connector to the board as well?

- Remove all cards but video
- disconnect all HDDs, optical drives, & floppy drives
- install one stick of RAM only
- unplug all cooling fans except for the HSF
- unplug the mouse & any USB devices
- unplug all case wiring (power switch, reset switch, LEDs, etc)
- make sure all other connections are correct

Try jump starting the board with a screwdriver by momentarily touching the blade to the 2 pins that the power switch would connect to

Problem Solved. Another problem encountered though. See part2.

The problem lied in the extra ports provided. I disconnected all of the USB ports, firewire, and the extra sound ports and the board booted. Dunno which was to blame, but I will deal with that later.
