Specs: Windows XP
Hello, guys and girls here

I have heard that Intel will lauch its fourth-generation computer chips which called Haswell Chip, and then some laptops equipped with this type of chip will get a battery life close to 24 hrs. Well, it sounds fantastic and incredible. I have been looking for a laptop With the "slice battery" it is rated with 24 hour of battery life for long time. But i wonder does the "24 hr" means the stanby time or other, whether i can keep it working for all day? I am tired of my last battery with the short battery life (2-3 hrs) from http://www.batteryselling.com/hp-pa... though it is the same even longer when compared to the common battery.

Any thoughts about this best news here?

All the best Brett

That battery that you bought does seem to be poor quality, Greta. Thanks for the warning; obviously a retailer to avoid.

Hi Brett, with laptop batteries so much depends on what the laptop activities are when running.

2-3 hours battery life is not necessarily bad.

When renewing a laptop battery, I purchase an oem one, with a guarantee, and with a higher wattage than the maker's original.

I do not buy those with many cells (e.g. 12) as the originals generally have 6. This is becaiuse I feel there is more to go wrong.

Would expect at least a years service from a battery.
One trick, when running on the psu, is to remove the battery.

So far, no problems with any oem battery.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

To get close to 24hrs the laptop have to be equiped with more than one battery.

You know the real meaning of peace only if you have been through the war.

2-3 hrs battery life on a 4-5 yr old Pavilion dv7 isn't all that bad. Power requirements & battery technology have improved since those days. If you want to double or triple your battery life, buy a modern laptop.

I can attest to the fact that the 3rd generation i-series CPU's draw significantly less power than older CPU's and the 4th generation i-series appears to be significantly better (by all reports). I do not expect 24hrs on a battery when it is actually being used any time soon, but they have come a long way. My daughter's new quad core laptop (distinct graphics & all) lasts much longer on its battery than her 5year old model dual core ever did. All that, more powerful, and a pound lighter.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I have a Macbook Pro 13.3" with an I5 cpu and I get 7 to 8 hrs. on a charge. I'm more than happy with that for now.
