CPU/Ram: duo core e6750 / 2gb
Model/Manufacturer: msi
Comment:
hi guys. i want to know what FSB has to do with RAM. my mobo has FSB/DDR 1066 capability with DDR2 and i currently using 2x 1gb DDR2 800 RAM. So does this mean that my computer can support DDR2 1066? And does this help overclocking?

ty sorry for my bad english

You should really deal with the frequency, not the DDR or QDR ratings.

Intel "quad-pumps" the FSB so to get the actual frequency, you need to divide by 4. The E6750 runs at 1333MHz FSB, so 1333/4 = 333MHz frequency.

RAM is "double-pumped" so to get the memory frequency, you need to divide by 2. DDR2-800 runs at 800/2 = 400MHz frequency.

In other words, DDR2-800 (400MHz) already runs faster than the 1333MHz (333MHz) CPU. DDR2-1066 runs at 533MHz. There's no way you're gonna overclock your system high enough to take full advantage of DDR2-1066 RAM. If you lock the DDR2-800 at 400MHz, then increase the CPU frequency to 400MHz to match the RAM, your CPU would run at 3.20GHz & your CPU:DRAM ratio would be 1:1.

"And that's the fishing line, because Sharkboy said so!"
