Hi,

Any one who can help may need to look up specs on thios mobo. It's a Soyo SY-P4VTE. I know WHERE the connect to the mobo, but the pin config on the board is different than the config on the case.
Here is what the pins for the USB on the mobo looks like:
2.....10
1....
here is what the case USB plug looks like:
|--|Ground = all by itself

|--|Ground \
|--|USB1+ |
|--|USB1- | all connected
|--|VCC /

It doesn't seem like the pinouts on the board match the pinouts on the plug that has all four contacts connected. Is that plug supposed to be split into four? and why does each port have TWO grounds? It seems wierd....I'm stuck...
Thanks

I realize that, but you should still be able to figure them out. Ground is ground, so that shouldn't be a problem. Look for + or -, 0 or 1, something like that.

on the cable, what is VCC? and why is there TWO grounds for EACH port, aking a total of FOUR grounds for TWO ports? Here is what the manual says:
Pin1=VERG_FP_USBPWR0
Pin2=VERG_FP_USBPWR0
Pin3=USB_FP_P0
Pin4=USB_FP_P1
Pin5=USB_FP_P0+
Pin6=USB_FP_P1+
Pin7=Ground
Pin8=Ground
Pin9=KEY
Pin10=USB_FP_OC0

That is why I'm confused...

vcc is 5volts
pin1- vcc VERG_FP_USBPWR0
pin2- vcc VERG_FP_USBPWR0
pin3- -d USB_FP_P0
pin4- -d USB_FP_P1
pin5- +d USB_FP_P0+
pin6- +d USB_FP_P1+
pin7- gnd Ground
pin8- gnd Ground
pin9- key

It is a real pain isn't it. I wish they would standardize this connection. Double check the wiring. No harm can come if wrong, until you connect a USB device. Then it can damage the device, or blow the controller.

well, just wanna let you guys know, I plugged both in to the same 2x5 set of pins and both front ports work fine so far. I plugged my compact flash card reader into each one, and it came up in both ports. All seems well...
Thanks
