I was replacing a motherboard for a friend and the front panel connectors on the case has a 2 pin connector for the reset button and the mobo has a 3 pin, if the reset jumper was not in would that cause the computer not to boot? plus where can i buy just a 3 pin reset jumper? Thanks in advance

Are you sure you're talking about the right thing? All reset buttons I've ever seen have only 2 wires, therefore it only needs 2-pins.

The reset button will close the circut when pressed, therefore, leaving it diconnected will keep the circut open. You shouldn't have any problems leaving the reset button disconnected.

Oh and the third pin could be a LED connector, first 2 pins would be - and + and the third could be the LED +. Though I could be wrong.

Computer companys will sometimes bundle different functions into as little connectors as possible, so there is a chance the the 3 pin connector is for a reset button and a third option mos likely a LED or even a second button.

Re-read your motherboard manual. I've seen some that have the three pin configuration in with the other front panel header pins, but a nearby alternate two pin header that can be used in cases that have only the two wire connector.

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

could also be that your 3-pin reset connector has only two wires going into it, leaving the third slot empty.
