Start with event viewer logs.

It could be that the CPU is overheating and the system is doing an auto shutdown to avoid damage. Check the heatsink and fan on the CPU & clean thoroughly if it is plugged up with dust.
Summary: I suggest you start off by checking the Win XP Event Viewer (in Administrative Tools). If Windows is shutting down the computer, there should be a mention of it somewhere under one of the categories....
