I'm trying to install a Geforce2 400mx agp and it will freeze up at the windows splash screen every time. How can I get it to boot up all the way so I can install the driver?

Did you remove the old video card from device manager before adding the new one? If not, right click on My Computer, click properties, then click on "Devices" tab and find "Display Adapter", select it and remove it. If you are saying you can't boot past the spash screen into windows, you'll have to boot up in safe mode to do this. Post back, let us know how it went.
raincheck, I'll try that when I get home tonight. I'll let you know what happens. Thank you.

You need to start in safe mode to get past the splash screen. On my PC I have to keep tapping the F8 key while booting up. I have a list of the keys used by different MB manufacturers (I got it from Wawadave, if you find it before me).
michael2, I can get to the safe mode pressing the F8 key. What do I do from there?

Elect to start the PC in safe mode (using F8 key, then the arrow keys to select option 3 I think it is, then press enter) then look in device manager (START - SETTINGS - CONTROL PANEL - SYSTEM - DEVICE MANAGER)to see if there is conflict between the new card and another device (shown by a yellow exclamation mark).
If you see no conflict you may be able to install the drivers. In safe mode, some functions do not work so this may not be possible, but you can try.
If you are having graphics problems but can start the PC into safe mode you can adjust the HARDWARE ACCELERATION which may allow you to see what the problem is or at least start the PC normally. Right click on a blank part of the desktop and select - PROPERTIES - SETTINGS - ADVANCED - PERFORMANCE - move the slider down to NONE then click APPLY - OK. Then reboot.
If this still does not help, you can post back and hopefully someone else may be able to help.
Summary: Thanks. I know the cables are firmly in the right place and ram is seated properly. The only card I have is my video card (AIW 9600XT) and its in properly. The LAN and sound are on the MB. I should sa...
