Comment:

I just tried to boot the computer several times this morning and each time it froze on the MoBo splash screen (Asus A7N8X). The LED power lights also stayed on. Each time, I had to reboot using the reset button or by switching the power button on the poer supply.

Last night, we had some bad weather. My guess is that since the power went off several times during the night and I'm on a UPS, the UPS didn't have enough jice to get it into POST.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

If the power is back on the UPS shouldn't even factor into getting your PC back on. Try to see if it will boot into safe mode by pressing F8 and choosing safe mode from the list. If it will you might get a clue as to what has gone wrong. You could try last known good configuration from the F8 options also. If it will not boot into safe mode there may have been some damage done to the mobo or CPU. Also, listen when you turn it on for the single beep, and make certain that it is not a series of beeps. Hope that helps.

If it doesn't work the 1st time try again and again.... the 3rd time find the tallest building around stand near a large window with a view.... Take a deep breath.. and drop the PC to it's death. LOL

Hi, sorry for the late reply.

The only reason I thought it might be the UPS is because if the power was off and the USB was out of power, then wouldn't it need a certain amount of tiem to gegain battery power? I guess that the actual battery has nothing to do with it, though.

Anyway, it booted up fine afterwards (I posted the original message using it, after all LOL), I guess it was just hanging for some reason on the splash screen and I was getting too impatient and didn't give it any more than 15-20 seconds (it booted after about 30).

There is also a single beep, so that would mean all is well, correct?
