Freeware for serial-port monitor

Hello : I want a freeware that can minitor a serial port and has other functions e.g. capture the data to file. Thx in advance for any advice.

It's not freeware, but for $45 it gets the job done pretty well. http://www.aggsoft.com/products/supercom/serial-port-sniffer.htm I'm not sure if there is much freeware out there for this, but you might want to try download.com and search there. Also, see if "ethereal" can do it. Ethereal is free, however, as you can tell by the name, its most likely only for ethernet ports.
