Hi, Never format a system drive unless you know that you have or can get all the drivers for it. You need at least the Modem, Lan,Video and Sound drivers. Windoze might have the rest. Check the maker's site for the drivers. If no luck try driversguide.com.

Good Luck, Jim

AT above site you can download Everest to ID the hardware on your computer so you can search for drivers.

Below is ENPower download site.

It's baffling how so many people think formatting is the "cure-all". Even more baffling is thinking a format will cure what is quite likely a hardware problem.

You *should* have drivers for all your devices (possibly on floppies or CDs?). These will need to be installed. You'll need the motherboard chipset, video, sound, modem, LAN, etc. If you don't have these laying around somewhere, you'll have to identify the make/model of each device, then locate & download WinXP compatible drivers for each

Hi Steging, No I'm from Chicago now. I never lived in Canada but my middle name is the same as a well known Canadian Beer. I sometimes stick IM at the back of my name as the real name is Jim Phelps (Mission Impossible).

No problem, Jim P.

The difficult we do immediately. The impossible takes a little longer.
