Is there such a thing as SATA boot disk? Would a Windows ME boot disk (which supports drives up to 137 GB) work with SATA in terms of FDISK and FORMAT?

If you have XP, don't use a boot disk. Go into Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management and select Disk Management in the Storage menu. You'll find that you can create, delete, and format partitions from there.
