Format raw Axis Memory stick to FAT or FAT32?

Specs: Windows XP
Can Any1 please help......I've been battling for ages to format my 2gb axeris memstick or to try and change it from having a raw file system to having a fat32 or fat file system. I've been thru all the steps of control panel, admin tools, computer management, delete drive letter/change path ect. but still it does'nt wanna work and keep on saying Formatting not completed.
What else can I do plz help guys plleeeaaaaaaaaassssssssseeee!!!!!!!!
P.S.: working on Windows 7 professional

I suspect that the device is bad and will need to be replaced. When Windows reports the format as RAW that means that it cannot identify the format, usually because it has become corrupted. Flash drives are the least reliable of modern storage media and they do fail, often without warning of any kind. You could try formatting the drive in a different computer. There are third party utilities that may work but if the drive is bad it must be replaced.

A 2 GB drive is probably old and due for replacement anyway.

You could try a live linux cd and delete the partition and create a new one. If that works even.

Windows 7 also has a partition program called diskpart. It may work only if the drive is OK.

It you can make a new partition then format it.

As above it may be a bad flash and they only cost like $4 now.

It is rather a really old stick, I just thort mayb (with both fingers crossed) I could safe it. Thanks 4 the advice guys, helpd clear up the question I had 4 sum time now.
