Coincidence? I think not!
Actually it was really unnecessary to post the specs seeing as how the part numbers are exactly the same but I had nothing better to do! LOL
hard drives come down in price faster than anything else so unless you need the capacity now its always best to wait and get an even better deal later.
I bought that very Maxtor HD, but XP Pro only recognizes it as 130 GIGs, I have tried everything including reformat & reinstall of the HD. I do have SP1 and all updates installed. Others do not seem to have this prob, and the drive runs great. (?)
I bought the same hard drive a couple months ago, and windows only saw 137GB. Went to Maxtor's website, downloaded a program called "big drive enabler." Windows now sees the full 160GB(actually if you do the math it's 152GB). Everything has been working fine since, fast and quiet hard drive.
AND now this week at CompUSA, from July 4th - Saturday July 10th you can get a Maxtor 250gig hard drive for $129.99! Thats another great bargain. But don't forget to buy the 2 year replacement plan on it for...24.99! You won't regreat it
That 2-year replacement plan is a waste of money because Maxtor gives you a 3-year warranty and the CompUSA warranty starts on the day of purchase, so it's kinda pointless to have two warranties going at the same time!
ummm... he didnt say warrenty, he said replacement... so that would mean that after 2 years, you get a new one to replace the old one. dont know if thats how he ment it, but thats what he said. and if thats not a deal, i dont know what is
