Hi Guys,
Im having problems with my floppy drive. The light is always on and when I put a disk in, it says "please insert a disk into drive a".
I have checked my cables and they can only go in one way. I have bought a round floppy cable and on each end there is a raised bit which means they only fit on one way up. I have swapped the cable around and still no luck.
Every diagnostic says that everything is fine, all reports come back with no problems. But nothing works!!!

The cables CAN be turned end for end and will be wrong. There should be an idendifiable #1 wire on each end. That #1 wire (usually red) must correspond with the #1 pin on the connector. If the cable will not plug in with the #1 to #1 then turn the cable 180 degrees and it should work. The end to the floppy drive can be misleading.

Light on all the time means the cable is installed upside down. The tab on the cable should be facing down...

I just went through something very similiar this past weekend. My floppy drive was working and then it wasn't. I tried changing the cables, turning them both ways and still wasn't getting anywhere's. It turned out that somehow it was not showing in the BIOS anymore. Once I changed it back to show the floppy drive and restarted everything has been fine since.
