Floppy Disk Questions

Hi. I have a Compaq Presario Desktop Model SR1120NX. The other day I downloaded an upgrade for my modem to the floppy disk, scanned it for viruses, then loaded it to my desktop. I double-click the icon on the desktop to open this folder. When I double-click on the "Read Me" file in this folder, the floppy drive runs and sounds like it's trying to read or write something. (There is no floppy in the drive when it does this.) Does anybody know why this is happening?
Also...sometimes when I'm shutting down my PC..the floppy will run and do the same thing. Thanks..Bob

the floppy will still 'seek' any document/file downloaded to it. go to task bar settings, 'clear' the documents field. that should stop the 'seeking'

It sounds as if it should be run from the floppy disc itself.
Sometimes the readme file is a batch file (mini program) that is written to access other files on the same floppy.
Good luck - Keep us posted.

I talked to the guy from the site I downloaded the program from...he said the program was seeking the floppy. (Like you guys said) I put the program on my C drive, however there was a shortcut on my desktop. The guy told me to create a new folder on the desktop and put this file(shortcut) inside the new one. This solved the problem. Thanks for the replies. Take care Bob
