hi, here is the problem i am facing...whenever i boot the computer it indicated that my floppy disk failure (40). can anyone help me to solve this problem? thanks...

you probably have the data cable on backwards, either at the floppy drive end, or the motherboard end, or both.
Double-check the connection, if you're sure it's on right, try a known-working floppy to see if it works.

Check your floppy data cable -- both ends -- and make sure it is not backwards, and also check the power connector. You might also check your BIOS setup to see that it's set to the proper size floppy.

Just a quik question have you acctually tried the floppy drive and see if it workes,because ive noticed on some computers that are set as bott from cd drive first,it will come up on boot as cd boot failure.This doesent meant that the cd rom isnt working it just means it failed to find somethink in the drive to boot from(a bootable disk).so then it mooves to the next boot device (floppy or hard disk or watever).if you do find that your floppy is in fact working and just want to get rid of the message at start up and make your puter boot a bit quicker,go into the bios setup and set your first boot device as your hard drive.
