My monitor is a 16 inch and recentely started flickering, no black outs it just looks like when you turn the contrast to darken the screen real fast then back to normal? The monitor is 2 1/2 years old and so is the computer, the motherbord is new only 6 mo old, insurance completely replaced it, and it worked fine but need to identify what it may be? drivers? monitor? I do have onboard sound and graphic card if that helps not too computer savy. Any way of finding a way to correct this, or is something likely going, the onboard is SiS Real256E 2D/3D Graphics on board.

Either try that monitor on another PC or try another monitor on your PC. That's the best way to find the problem.

Why did insurance replace your motherboard? Whatever damaged it may have also damaged your display.

Most monitors have a three-year warranty, so if it appears that it was damaged (as OtheHill indicated it may be), you may be able to get it replaced as well.

When I bought the computer I also bought the 3 year insurance for 165.00 best insurance I ever bought, I started having problems with my computer, they replaced everything in my computer except my cdrom one by one and still had problems till they replaced the motherboard, even replced my memory chips, unfortunately I bought the Monitor at another store a month later and did not buy the insurance, and it only has a 2 year waranty, I will see if someone around here has a spare monitor to make sure its not the computer and if its the monitor I guess I will just wait till it breaks. I was hoping it was a driver or something. Thanks for the info.
