The battery light on my Dell E1505 Inspirion started flashing today and I'm trying to find out what this indicates. It flashes orange 3 times and then turns green before repeating. The light flashes whether or not the power cord is plugged in. When the power cord unplugged, the battery holds a charge so I don't believe its a bad battery. The PC is less than 1 year old anyway. In all other respects, things appear to operate normally.

I contacted Dell support via India but received absolutely no help from the tech. He suggested reflashing the BIOS which, as I expected, didn't do anything. The owner's manual for this laptop is silent as to what the flashing indicates.

Any ideas out there?

The Dell forums all seem to indicate that your battery needs replacing.
