I Wanted to Flash my Samsung SW-232 Cd-RW with the new Firmware, Downloaded the program to do so, but when i performed the upgrade (under WinXP) i got an error message. Now my pc and bios recognize the drive as "ricoh FirmwareLoader2 0.99".
It is not a Ricoh drive, but since every flash program sees it like one, it won't flash it with Samsung firmware. "different model" i get, or "wrong device model".
Is there a Flash Utility that flashes to any device, regardless to the brand?

Please help. I have tried MTKFLASH and P-flash,and the original Samsung flash utility, none seem to work.

for love of the game, i just keep playing

Sounds like you already exhausted all of your options except replacing the drive. Are you in the states? If so, places like Officmax have specials on CDRW drives just about weekly. This week, staring today they have a Khypermedia 48x24x48 CDRW for $10 after rebates. Why bother with your old drive. Burners are only good to burn so many disks anyway.
