Install flash memory where?

Flash memeory is like an erasable, re-writable ROM. It doesnt requires power to retain its information. Its only used where it is necessary at it is very slow compared to RAM.

Your BIOS ROM uses flash memory. Those excellant plug-in USB Sticks use flash memory. Digital cameras use flash memory.

Had a look on tigerdirect. Loads of flash memory devices, no flash memory chips.

I think you are getting excited about nothing. Unless you have some specific use for it, what are you going to do with it.

They are not like RAM chips where they are plugged into a mothboard. They come fitted to particular device. If you should get a flash memory chip, you are going to have to build the device to use it yourself.

G'day,

You can also use flash as removable hard drives (ie Compact Flash). For instance you can use say, a 32M CF card to transfer data from one machine to another (provided you have the readers).
They are also used in Digital Cameras and can be used to download to your PC.
Either way, though, you will need a reader to get the info out.
regards and seasons greetings,
Elric
