Hi to all.
I have a Toshiba Qosmio G20 Notebook.
The notebook has 2 HDD. The first HDD has a hidden partition for the Qosmio Player.
This partition is hidden by HDD firmware modification. Bios see's the first HDD with 79GB and the second with 80GB. According to Toshiba in my version of the notebook the last 100MB of the first drive are hidden by a modified version of the firmware.
So I want this 100MB back. For the past 2 years I've been looking for ways que recover these 100MB.
Can anyone help me find a way to reflash my Fujitsu 80GB HDD Sata model MHT2080BH.
Since both drives are exactly the same some third party software to copy the firmware from the second HDD to floppy and then flash it to the second HDD.

Before anyone asks. Yes I tried lots of partition software, linux discs and Low level format utils.
The partition is just not there.
Like I've said. Toshiba hidden the partition with a modified firmware on the first drive.

If I may ask the question, what is the big deal over 100MB? That is 1/800th of the drive size. I am guessing that is also the area where the harddrive password information is stored. If the drive is currently functioning are you willing to possibly kill a drive over such a small percentage gain?

edit to add: What you wish to do is probably also a violation of the the DMCA.

Use PTEdit to change the partition to "0C" so Windows can see it.

Well. I'm not violating anything. It's my HDD. I can do whatever I want with it. Toshiba said so.
And yes I'm willing to kill the drive. If that happens thats a shame.
Also. I want to run Linux on the notebook. No linux works on it because of the RAID. And the ones that can detect the HDD's give some errors because of the hidden partition.
All and every distros except one. SuSe 10.2.
But I want try others.
My questions remains: How to reflash Fujitsu HDD Firmware.

Bryco. I'm gonna try the PTEdit. But I don't think it will work. Since not even zero filling the drive removes the partition.

Its like this. I wanna try everything. Before I loose my mind and replace the HDD with a new one. In a way! I can replace both HDD's with bigger HDD's. That would be nice. However I don't want too just yet!
In a new HDD the qoesmio player can be installed in a partition created at the end on the disc. But at least it wont be hidden!

It's done.
I used HDD Capacity restore software.
It restored the missing 100MB to the HDD.
