My flash drive is being recognized by Windows. It shows up in my computer. When I try to open it, it tells me the drive is not formatted. I click yes to format it. When I try to format it, it tells me the disk is write protected and will not let me format. What can I do?

There may be a switch on the drive to lock it.

If it did work correctly at one time and you are the only user then you will have to either get a linux live cd and try to format it that way or get a windows app to try to correct it.

If new read instructions or take it back.

It may have security software installed.

Might have a secure partition and a hidden one or some other combinationl

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
