Print what?

You will need to open whatever you want to print in a program in Windows and then print it.

In other words I cannot print directly from the flash drive I have to download it onto the computer in order to print is??

Its a word doc from microsoft office
also word from wordpad

Then you need to open it in the programs they were written in or in a compatible program.

FYI you can print to file from word and that file saved to flash drive may be printable directly from the drive.

You don't need to download it to your computer to print it, but you do need to plug it in before you can print from it.
Plug in to USB port, right click the file you want and choose print from the popup list.

You would need a printer with Direct Printing, most only support Photo JPEG format like:

Thanks all for you advise...I finally got it working I had the printer on off line and once I corrected that, it prints from the flash drive like a dream :)
