What behavior are you seeing, and what steps did you take to update the BIOS?

Also, if you could provide your system specs, that would be helpful.

If you have corrupted your BIOS you may need to contact Lenovo for repair. See this thread: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo...

Unless you have a pressing reason to update your BIOS it is not a good idea.

If you have corrupted the BIOS you can no longer flash it. Take it to a Lenovo dealer.

Please note that in order to Flash a BIOS you need an operating BIOS to do it. IF it is possible at all to restore your laptop with a corrupted BIOS, it will be the manufacture themselves and probably not even the dealer.

If you check the internet there are many many instances where a failed BIOS update caused a computer to 'Brick' which simply means that it becomes as useful as a single brick (not much good by itself except as a paperweight). The only reason to update a BIOS is where there is a significant problem where there is significant evidence that the newer BIOS will solve this issue, usually in the BIOS' description. Since there is little chance that you will be changing out hardware in a laptop, there is very little chance that this step was actually needed. Then you ONLY get the BIOS update directly from the system manufactures web site and only for that exact machine model specifically and version.

IF you ever think in the future that you need to update your BIOS, please check back here first and lay out all of the problem and the reason why you think you need it. Then you take specific precautions before you start because any interruption will cause you a major problem (battery or power issues being common).

So no, if you cannot get into your BIOS set up, we cannot help you Flash your BIOS to fix it because Flashing the BIOS uses a small program within the BIOS to make the update. Sorry.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

We can't tell you how to flash "all computer BIOS" because each manufacturer does it differently. To update the BIOS on your Lenovo B490, start by downloading the BIOS Update Utility from the following link. The name of the file is H9ET92WW.exe.

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/dow...

After you've downloaded the file, do the following (from within Windows):

- Double click on H9ET92WW.exe
- Click Install
- Click flash BIOS
- Press ENTER to start the flash

When the update finishes, the computer will restart & changes will take effect. If you've already tried the above & the update failed, there's nothing you can do to fix it. The laptop will have to be taken to a repair shop.

If you're not getting a display on the screen after flashing the BIOS, there's no way that YOU can fix it. It can only be fixed by Lenovo or a Lenovo authorized repair shop. The laptop will most likely have to be dissembled & a new CMOS/BIOS chip will have to be installed on the motherboard. That is why I posted the link in response #6. Like riider said, if the screen is blank, then the computer is toast. Give it up with the "how do I flash the BIOS." Take it to a shop to be repaired and give it a rest. YOU can't fix it.

You generally only get one shot at flashing a BIOS & it will either work or it won't. You already tried & the flash went bad. We don't know if it was because of something you did wrong (like performing the flash using battery power instead of AC) or something else.

"What difference at this point does it make?" - Hillary Clinton

- A new CMOS battery won't fix it.
- Connecting an external display won't fix it.

Your laptop will have to be taken to a shop for repair. End of story.

Everything you need to know about how to flash the BIOS for your Lenovo B490 is in the above responses. I suggest you re-read them & click on any included links. Other than that, it appears English isn't your native language & we're having problems communicating. Either that or you're deliberating asking the same thing over & over again just to be annoying.
