Fixing Bad Sectors

Hello i have a old p 166 im trying to get running. I had 98 installed but it was getting alot of illegal errors and then it got some kind of error that would not let be start windows along with a illegal error from exploer. So i formatted the drive. But it still has bad sectors and needs to be fixed. Can someone please help? Its a 10 gig WD Harddrive. I got software from WD but it don't work. Please don't reply with software from WD is the only thing there has got to be something else. What about a program like east tech earaser?

Are you sure you got the RIGHT software from WDC? Do you know how to use it? You have to create a bootable floppy, boot off it, then run the diagnostics from DOS.

Try DLG Diagnostic or Data Lifeguard v11.0 for DOS:

You 'may' be able to save the drive by doing a repair or a low-level format (write zeros)...then again, as Richard59 said, "Sometimes a drive is beyond recovery"
