dear all
i attempted to fit a used but good second harddrive to my system so that i may do a complete backup of my master drive.ok connected all stuff and booted then got the message that no drives where detected and was asked to install the boot disk or something. then decided to disconnect the slave drive and try again another day. my problem is i still get the message that there is a boot failure, after i get my gateway display screen even though my system boots into xp after that. i must add that i set the bios to enable hardware detection warning just to try to see if it could detect the slave drive at all, bu then i disabled it.how do i get rid off the warning about the boot detection thingy?

How many IDE devices do you have & how did you install this 2nd hard drive? It should be on the secondary channel. Make sure your jumpers are set properly...don't use cable select

Try this to get rid of the warning:
Enter the Bios setup program and look for an option that says something like `Reset configuration data'.
