I want to know if this is all good
1. Corsair 1GB Kit DDR400 PC3200
2. AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Processor Socket 939
3. ATI All-In-Wonder X600 Pro PCI Express 256MB DDR Video Card w/TV-Out , DVI & Video-In
4. Abit AX8 Via K8T890 AMD Athlon 64(FX) Skt939 DDR ATX Motherboard w/Audio, Gigabit LAN, RAID/Serial ATAI KNOW THAT THE MOBO MAYB BAD BUT IF IT IS POINT ME TO A GOOD MOBO AND I NEED IT TO BE PCI-E SO I CAN USE THE ALL IN WONDER IF IT GOOD THANK U

You should be able to use the AIW in any PCIe MB. Why not go for the SLI version. That way, once PCIe is ramped up and you need an upgrade you MAY be able to get a decent boost by throwing in a pair of SLI compatible cards. There are different PCIe slot configurations available. Some with more than just the two PCIe 16x and a couple of PCI 1x slots. Do a filtered search at Newegg.com to see what I mean.

You might ant to consider the Asus SLI boards.
the A8NSLI or the A8NSLI - Delaux the first one being cheaper of the 2 and with the only diference bing is the cheaper version does not have the Silicon image raid controller.
But both do have the Nforce 4 inbuilt raid with support for 4 SATA drives.
If you do consider buying one, make sure that you install the latest bios version for it, before loading the OS.
It seems to be a good and stable board, with pleanty of features, wel layed out, with good PCIX slot placement.

Asus SLI board might be a huge overkill for this guy. If you notice his graphics card selection it's nither an nVIDA card and not powerfull as well, and it's an AIW AYAI card. No need for an SLI on this instance. The board you picked should be fine. If you are using an AIW to capture video you really don't want to overclock - trust me (i'm an avid overclocker). So, you don't 'need' a board that will overclock either. I'll give you another selection for you to think about - basically just another S939 AMD board but just a different chipset (Nforce4).

This board is extremely stable ( i have built 4 of these in my shop) and will overclock in the future as well if you wan't to. It has all voltages/multipliers you need - fully adjustable. The Abit you picked is not a bad board at all for a VIA board, but this NF4 Chaintech is actuallly a better board. Again keep in mind you don't need to pay premuim for an SLI board if you don't plan on going SLI or if you're not going to buy-use an nVIDA PCIe card.Biostar NF3250GB

I recommend the SLI MBoard because right now this technology is a waste of cash for the video cards but by the time your present card gets tired you should be able to drop in a couple of SLI compatible cards and have a big jump in performance. If you are already going with PCIe, why not go all the way.

With respect, because this guy may not need to go all the way. He wannt's to use an AIW ATI card IIRC. He may be paying for a mainboard with more features than he will ever use. 4 to 6 SATA connectors, and SLI bridge may not be needed or wanted, and .. you do have to pay extra for that. It's up to him though. Maybe he has the money for it, maybe not, but i see no sense on getting it if he is going to buy an ATI card with AIW and is intent on using it as a capture device.
Now_ he could go with a lower end nVIDA card and use a seperate video/TV capture card, but again .. you see that above he didn't pick either NVIDA nor an SLI capable card. IMHO to justify the SLI board he would need to buy an SLI capable card now (EG: 6600GT/6800NE/GT/Ultra) and use a seperate capture card. If he's not going to do that he doesn't need an SLI board at all. If he has the slightest inkling that he might use and SLI setup then the should go for an SLI board and get at least a 6800NU.

hey - i understand where you are coming from, and you do suggest a very good premuim mobo. You have good taste :) - i just thought i might way in with another opinion together with yours to give him something to think about if he didn't ever wan't to go SLI. I built a S939 2 1/2 weeks ago with the new ATI chipset (mATX) and an X800XL AIW for an older retired Navy guy and he loves it. No awful chipset fan noise either, and moderate power needs (I used a 430W antec). Not quite as fast as NF4 but very close, and if his card gives it up for some reason he will have native DX9 IGP onboard until he get's an RMA or another card.

I do agree with the chipset fan noise, it is a pain int the backside.
But what you can do to minimise it is turn of Q fan controll in the bios, and let the fans run in their own natural state.
For some reason this makes things better, but at 8000 rpm I would be making a niose as well.
Dont try disconnecting the fan eather, the nf4 sli chipset gets darn hot, and I mean darn hot, been there done that laready.
I am in fact trying to figure out a way to remove the fan, withiut actualy removing the original heat sink, and somehow getting an adapter with a lrager diamater fan of sorts, to fit on the top.
Apart from the normal after market gear does anyone in her know of anything else that might be available, of the shelf ??

Seems people are using the Zalman chipset (passive) cooler. I knew about the NF4 getting hot but i think it really only runs into trouble when you overclock to a certain threshold.Biostar NF3250GB
