Hi

Is there a cable that converts from the Firewire(IEEE1394) to USB 2.0? Since I want to transfer the video from the Canon Z300 camcorder to my computer, but my computer doesn't have the firewire port. Thank you so much.

If you have a free PCI slot, you could get a firewire card.

Firewire card is the only way. They range from like 69$ (CompUSA) to 10$ (Ebay), and they all will do exactly the same thing.

Here are three that will fit the bill. I've always liked Tigerdirect because they are as cheap as eBay. Note the last one has both types of firewire (6 & 4pin) connectors.

3-Port PCI Firewire Card with an Internal Header - $9 ......

Zonet 4 Port Firewire IEEE 1394 PCI Adapter - $10 .....

Sabrent Firewire PCI Card with 6pin & 4pin Firewire Cable - $13 .....

Good luck.

If there was, why bother when it would cost more than a new PCI card (includes cable)?

Just do it the right way. You don't wanna mess with dropped frames in your video capture.
