DV & firewire describes the two ends of the camera's data cable. However you do need to have a firewire port on the computer in order to be able to connect the data cable to the PC.

If you don't have a firewire port on your computer but DO have an open PCI slot, you can install one fairly inexpensively. There are cards that will add firewire or Firewire and USB2. To determine if your computer has an open PCI slot, which is fairly likely, you need to open the computer and look. Try Newegg.com for an add in card.
