Hi! I got a motherboard coming out of a computer that's missing a lot of stuff. I can see that the processor/heatsink is AMD and that it's a pentium 4 but i want to put the motherboard back together (first time) and i'd like to find out what motherboard it is. It ain't functional at the moment so i can't use a software. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Hey thanks for the info, but i'm actually talking about something else than my actual up and going computer. I mean a total different motherboard by itself with processor and 6 pci slots, 1 AGP (i think) 3 slots for RAM and the usuals Serial ports, PS/2 plugs, usb ports and sound plugs (at the back).

I want to find a way of knowing what mobo it is to have an idea of how to put it back together in a PC.

thanks!

Look for the manufacturer's name printed on the motherboard. (Gigabyte, Asus, Biostar, MSI etc.)
Or
Look for a model number printed/sticker on the motherboard and Google that number.
Or
Look for the FCC number and go to http://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/ and do a search of the FCC number to find out the manufacturer.

"I can see that the processor/heatsink is AMD and that it's a pentium 4". Huh? Got to be one or the other.

So then a retail HS/fan from AMD is being used on a Celeron?

If you haven't found it already, here's the FIC page for the AU13:

I'm not sure what the L suffix means. I think that board was used in HPs, compaqs and maybe emachines with a branded bios so that may be the reason. Or it may have to do with different onboard ports..
