If your friend is so freakin smart about computers, why don't you ask him? I'm curious...does your friend have 15-20 yrs experience building/repairing computers like many of us do? Do you think we're asking questions about your hardware because we have nothing better to do? You came here for help & we've tried to give it to you, but you refuse to provide the info that's necessary to answer your questions.

The 9800GT is a decent gaming card but we have no idea if it will work in your system or not. As a matter of fact, we have no idea of the motherboard, CPU or memory either. Regardless, if your power supply is too weak & you install a card like the 9800GT, your whole system is gonna come crashing down & other hardware components could possibly be damaged. Is that what you want?

Post your PSU specs!

400W+ means nothing! We need to know the amperage specs...you were told that several times now. Open the freakin case, find the power supply, get the info off the label & post it!

Hey, look....here's some labels with all the info we need:

Guess which of the above is the good one?

"around 400W+" means even less. That card is gonna use about 10 amps of +12v power (120 watts) and a power supply of "around 400W+" probably just ain't gonna cut the mustard. That's a big power draw for even a "good" psu.

"Would be able to run most games as bioshock, fallout 3, oblivion, basicly just all games in highest graphics or atleast medium?"

We just can't answer that. We do not know what processor, what memory and how much memory, what motherboard or power supply specs.

You think we want to say the 9800GT is a dandy card for you and then wait until you post back saying the system won't boot or the power supply went "pop!"?

You're looking at spending £105 just for the card and £150 or so for a card and quality power supply. You need to answer our questions...£150 will go a long way for a decently modern system but can also be money thrown in the trash for an outdated weak system.

Tom,

I've been reading your threads the past few days and I don't understand why you can't provide the information Jam and Skip have requested. I've been a member of this forum since 2002, and I can tell you that Jam and Skip are part of a select few that consistently provide good advice. They have helped me numerous times. Making them repeat themselves over and over again is disrespectful. They are here to help, but how can they when you don't provide your complete system specs? Is it laziness or ignorance? I don't mean to sound like a jerk or anything, just pointing out the obvious.

I truly believe that you are of less than average intelligence. I posted 3 sample labels in response 3. Notice what each of them lists & what we've been asking you for over & over again.

How about this...fill in the blanks:

manufacturer = ??
model number = ??
wattage = ??
+3.3v current = ?? amps
+5v current = ?? amps
+12v1 current = ?? amps
+12v2 current = ?? amps

And if that's not clear enough for you, have a look at the following picture, then look at how I fill in the blanks:

http://www.virtual-hideout.net/revi...

manufacturer = OCZ Technology
model number = OCZ780MXS
wattage = 780W
+3.3v current = 30 amps
+5v current = 30 amps
+12v1 current = 20 amps
+12v2 current = 20 amps

Tom the simple fact is it looks like your trying to upgrade for gaming and to help we needed more info. Let's start with who made your pc? What model is it? And what upgrades have you done if any. If you want a decent card your going to need a good quality psu. I would look at 650 watt on the low end. This should leave some headroom so your psu isn't stressed which can cause damage to other components. More is usually better. A personal tip on posting here. Things would have gone smoother if you had told us in your first post what you are trying to do. With the proper info we will gladly help anyone (dorky nerds that we are ;) ). Inside joke.
