When I boot up, the bubble: I have files waiting to be burned on my CD-RW, shows. When I click on that bubble, the page that opens is blank. If I try to burn onto ANY type disc, I get the unable error and choose to try later. If I try to delete what is on that blank page, I get the pop-up error: Cannot delete ********ya-da-ya-da, etc.( and has the name of the file that is waiting to be burned.) Then, in the same pop-up error box: Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name.

I can't burn ANYTHING, and I'm beginning to think it is because of that "invisible file" that's waiting to be written.

Does anyone have a clue how to get rid of that? I've un-installed & re-installed the burner, and it shows up the minute I turn the puter on. I've tried to rename it to no avail. Where would I look to find it hidden in my system?

I've tried to find it for a week. I don't have a virus. I've had this burner for over a year with no problems.

Thanks in advance.

You get this error because there are files remaining in the CD burning staging area that should have been deleted. Here is how you can clean it out:

1. Open Windows Explorer.

2. Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning\

3. Delete everything in sight.

The above will silent the popup bubble once for all.

Thanks for that answer. I'm not REAL savvy on a puter, I don't know how to get to all of those things you have listed.

I did do a search for the file and it's not found anywhere.

If you can explain to me how to get to where you say I need to be...and, it's not the same as searching for it...I will certainly appreciate it.

OKAY...I've found my way around and on the general tab of the CD burning properties box: 1 file 0 folders.

In my Run box: CD Burning, there is nothing showing to delete.

Needless to say, I still can't delete the invisible file on the page for burning the CD. CRAZY, eh?

have you tried going into start/run and then msconfig and unchecking everything except your AV & Firewall?

WOW! I just went into msconfig...a place I've never seen, before. ;)

Thanks for having patience with me.

What are you referring to...AV & Firewall.? I see Windows firewall in the list, but am at a loss at the AV.

After I've unchecked all but those...then what do I do?

(The invisible file is still waiting to be written.) :(

AV is your antivirus, so whichever AV you have in startup, keep that and the firewall checked and then click ok or apply and reboot your PC....see if you still have that

Well...it's like this. ;) I unclicked everything in the Start up tab, except the AV (there was no firewall listed). I re-booted...the bubble popped up to let me know I had files waiting to write. I went back into Run and clicked everything under start-up because I couldn't remember which ones were originally clicked. (They'd changed positions in the list.) ANYWAY...I re-booted...didn't get the bubble popping up, but...went into My Computer, double clicked the CD, right clicked on the blank page, clicked delete files, and got told the same thing...Cannot delete ********ya-da-ya-da, etc.
( and has the name of the file that is waiting to be written.) Then, in the same pop-up error box: Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name.

That file has GOT to be SOMEWHERE in this computer, doesn't it? And, deletable, I would imagine. LOL! I enjoy a good challenge, but...this is gettin' to be a bit much. LOL!

I guess I'll do a system restore back to yesterday, so my Start up's will be the same as yesterday.

Thanks!

Okay...I'm showing, via that link, there are 19 start up items. By looking in my Run box at the start-up items, there's a total of 32, 20 enabled. The difference between the 19 & 20 is not named in my Run box start-up tab, but states that it is HKLM, just like most of the others. Could it be that is the "invisible item", and it would be okay to disable?

My eyes are beginnin' to burn...I need to take a break from this. ;)
