I currently am backing up some data, so I added a hitachi 80gig sata150 drive to my board. Its an asus p5wd2. My main sata is a 74gig raptor, then I have another 80gig WD that's been fine.
I am transfering from the Raptor to the new hitachi, about 30gigs, and its telling me almost 200 minutes. Its been running for 30 minutes and is 15% done...
I just moved 8gigs from the WD drive to it and it took over 30 minutes.
What can be the causes of this?
I "cut" the 8gigs and "copied" the 30 gigs, both going about the same rate.
I don't think sata has the dma/pio settings...
I'm at a loss. Could it be my C: has only 6gigs free and I'm moving more than that?

Well athat is roughly 5MBPS transfer on the 8GBs. Very slow indeed. Did you install the SATA drivers?

I installed my mobo's chipset drivers... Wouldn't they be included?
Or is there something extra I have been missing with sata for years? eep

I think I figured it out.. Reinstalling anyways, but I think its because I had my bios as sata as IDE instead of AHCI lol.
Wonder why i did that.
Still as IDE shoulda been faster, but this pc needs a format too.
I'll let ya'll know in a few.
