My machine came stock from the store with DDR2100 266MHz 2x256 ram CL2 memory modules. I recently bought DDR2700 (I'm told backward compatible) 333MHz 2x512 ram CL2.5 so my machine would be faster. Upon installing the new ram the machine was indeed comparatively quite a bit faster. Then problems, programs crashing, then a single system crash BSOD. I rebooted and ran memtest86+ it reported 9 failures (errors?) then my HP Pavilion ze5375us locked up. I shut down, removed the faster ram and replaced it with the original 2x256 266MHz. Everything seemed alright except my desktop background was gone, replaced by a white screen that offered a button to reactivate my active desktop when I clicked on it a sub window opened below asking if I wanted to continue running scripts, I answered yes but nothing happened. Now each time I boot up my wallpaper is missing, I've replaced it at least a dozen times now, and the same reactivation screen is in it's place. I think the faster ram is the culprit but I have no idea how to correct the measure. I want my desktop back! Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
