Fax and new digital phone service

February 16, 2009 at 07:54:47
Specs: Windows Vista
Our household had been using AT&T for internet and phone service - my fax was working fine. We recently changed to TWC digital phone service and my fax machine doesn't "work". My fax is an HP Officejet 4215 "all-in-one" and a few years old. Is there something I need to do to ensure that it can handle digital service??
Thanks!

By digital I take you mean VoIP. Fax is an analogue system and as such needs an analogue telephone system to work. There is nothing you can do to make it work on a digital system.

The digital equivalent of Fax is called Email.

Look at the manuals to answer those questions. Below is a link to the two manuals for that machine.

Also consider calling tech support for yur new provider.

According to similar question asked (CLICK ME), TMC answered Yes, fax machines work with Digital Phone service. If you have any problems sending or receiveng faxes using Digital Phone, please contact your local Time Warner Cable customer service office.

I also think being placed on hold indefinitely then finally being able speak to a TMC Customer Service Representative with heavy accent will be a waste of time.

I currently use a TAD/FAX/Modem in my computer and have VOIP phone service. It does work. The OP may also have DSL or ISDN phone service. I don't know anything about Time Warner support so I can't speak to it. Can't be much worse than AT&T though.

Thank you each for your input to my question. Even after reading through the booklet for my fax (as suggested by OtheHill), I think my best bet is to call TWC. Wish me luck!
