I would like to get this equiptment, but the cost has yet to be said. I was wondering would this system be good enough for the internet as well as games? I am into flight sims and online action games. Would it be better to get an Xbox instead? Hmmmm..... I just want to play a game with someone that I don't have available near me. My family and friends are back east. any help would greatly be appreciated. :)

The most important thing for playing games online is to have a broadband nternet connection. The setup they used would cost a small fortune but you don't need all that to get great graphics out of games. But if all you want to do is play games and nothing else, it's fifty times more cost effective to get a console like X-box.

I am getting cable modem soon and I would like to play this game online. It requires me to have a Win NT or Linux OS for a server capabilities. IT's the best choice told to me. If I have a second HD can I format it for Linux or the readily accesible NT. I do have a NT disk, but the HD is acting funny! What steps can I go from there. By the way I have 700MHZ celeron 192MB SDRAM. WD primary HD and a MAXTOR as a second HD.

Why spend that much money just for an Intel CPU running at a 200 FSB?

From a price vs. performance perspective, a cheaper XP CPU, nForce2 motherboard and PC3200 DDR would probably give you equal, if not better, performance, and at an overall cost that's probably less than the Intel CPU alone.

IF a 800 FSB (200 MHz quad-pumped) Intel CPU were to be released, I'd guess the price would be pretty steep. (i.e. at least $650)

compare that to the following "highly overclockable" AMD system already available:

nForce2 mobo $150
512 MB PC3200 DDR $150
XP2700+ CPU $325

If my OC'd XP1700+ w/ 200 FSB can beat a similarly equipped 3.06 GHz P4 HT in 3Dmark, I can only guess what a OC'd XP2700+ can do...

That said, I don't know how you could even consider comparing it's performance to an XBox.

XBOX equivaltent:

Intel Pentium III @ 733 MHz
64 MB RAM
300 MHz GeForce2 graphics
