fan running, monitor is black, not booting

Specs: Windows XP, Core 2 Duo , DDRII
i forget my bios password. so i pulled out my bios battery and again i placed it at right place. than i tried to turn on my pc it shows "operating system missing" message. than i format my HDD in another pc with windows XP......... than i connect my HDD to my pc which was not booting..... than i tried to boot it..... but this time ... when i hit power button, fan starts spinning and stops for a micro seconds and again starts running....... monitor remains black..... DVD Rom light is glowing... plz help me........ i m in great problem..

Some of it may apply to your situation and some may not. You obviously messed up something while you were inside the case. You may have damaged a component or maybe just jostled something loose. If you have a video card instead of on-board video, make sure it is firmly seated. Even if it's a little loose it may not work.

You may be able to isolate the problem by disconnecting all the devices and then reconnecting them one-by-one as I mentioned there.
