External Monitor doesn't show boot process

Specs: Windows 7, Intel Atom N260 1,66 GHz / 1 GB
My Notebook screen is broke, because of that I use external monitor, success but booting process does not show. One day When I got little problem with rundll32.exe virus. Other site command me to switch into safe mode for secure. But because boot process does not show, I can't press F8 in time to get my notebook to safe mode. I try again until can, And when I press and hold F8 on boot. desktop screen doesn't show. Maybe boot process still run at that time. I don't know the situation because I can't see what's happening on boot. Please help me???

Try closing the laptop lid (screen) as soon as you power it up. That may send the video signal to the external monitor before Windows loads, but of course you'll need an external keyboard once the lid has been closed (obviously).

If that doesn't work, you may have to press a key combination on the laptop's keyboard as soon as you power it up, but since I don't know your laptop model I cannot tell you what that key combination is.

Toggle, not press.

In other words, tap the F8 key, don't press & hold. And if you know the correct key to press, you should be able to get the boot screen to display.
