My external HDD is not showing on my computer. It is running and a little blue light is on, but it figures nowhere. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

Start with the USB cable, make sure its plugged in securely, if it is unplug it and plug it back into another USB slot.

You can also try to restart your computer with it unplugged from the computer and plug it in when the OS loads up, see if it will recognize it again

Look for the external drive in Windows Disk Management. You may need to partition and format the drive.

Post all information that is listed in Disk Management for that drive.

Thanks for responding. It's not showing in Disk Management but it does show in My computer. When you click it, it shows no content. Also the little blue light turns red. I have tried different USB slots but I get the same message everytime. I checked the status of the USB Host Controllers and all are working fine. This problem seems to be with the external drive.

If the drive shows in My Computer then it SHOULD appear in Windows Disk Management. Did you expand the window and look at the bottom?

What information is listed for that drive in My Computer?

Hi OtH. It shows up in My Computer but it is non functioning. In porperties it shows space used: 0
space free: 0.

I had it scanned with Malwarebytes and only zeros came up. It is non-existant and I checked again in Windows Disk Manager but nothing. Also, the blue light is constant which means it's running and functioning to capacity. But that's it. I can't post you anything from WDM because it's empty.

What do you mean it is empty? The external is not showing there? Or there is no additional information?

Expand the window when in Disk Management.

It shows in My Computer but when you click it it shows a blank page. When you right-click it and goes to properties it shows just "zeros" everywhere like in Used Space, Free Space and Capacity. I did expand the Disk Management page but nothing.
