Can I use a UATA drive in an external USB2/firewire caddy? The caddy makers say it will only take SATA drives, but they also say that their caddies make ALL IDE drives portable. Would my system recognise it at its full capacity of 400GB? My mobo is an ASUSTeK A7N8X2.0. Many thanks.

James,

The caddies are made specific to the type of drive (ATA or SATA). Check out some samples

I bought the Sabrent one for $20. I inserted a standard 80 GB Western Digital internal IDE drive, and it works great.

Good luck.
