hello could anybody help me please, i have just bought an external harddrive case and fitted an harddrive into it which i got from another pc running win98, when i plug the harddrive in via usb cable i hear the sound off the pc saying that something has just been plugged in, but i get a message saying that new hardware has been found but windows does not recognise it. it also says that it has malfunctioned, i have set the jumpers to slave but i was told to set it to cable but that did not work, have i a problem with usb hub or is the harddrive no good, thanks paul

I had a similar problem but before reading the instructions, I set it to "Master". It ran great and still is.
The instructions that I read later said to set it to "Cable Select". I did not do that because it was running so well while set at "Master".
I am running Windows XP SP2.
