Hi,

I want to get an external had drive because the one in my computer is getting filled up and I want to be able to take my movies/music with me. I am planning on getting something big, 250GB or maybe 300GB, that should last me for some time. However, the prices for external hard drives of this size are pretty nasty, about $300 plus. So I was thinking of getting a USB/Firewire enclosure and buy a hard drive separately because I can get good deals on big HDs. My question is, are there any problems with these enclosures? Anything heat related? What about data reliability? Let me know what you think.

Thank you in advanced.

I have had one for about 18 months. Never had a problem. My enclosure is usb 1, so it can be noticeably slower at times. Check the mfr site to make sure the enclosure will support a 300 gig hdd (not sure why it wouldnt, but you never know).
