I bought a new rock mobile externtal hard drive and windows xp will recognize it most of the time but when I try to load one of my video files onto in the light goes red and the drive freezes, I tryed the drive on my lapto that has vista and the same thing happened can you help?

is the case only that video orrr ???...
check the drivers for the device using device manager (assuming you are windows user)

may be power problem if it is having external powe connector/adopter then change it if not get replacement

Did you get this drive on eBay? If so, open the case of the external drive. You're likely to find an old, worn-out drive, which the seller has hidden in a cheap, unventilated case and sold to you as "new". Move your data off of it ASAP.

Good luck getting a refund.

As dark above alluded to the file format may be the problem. Many external hard drive come pre-formatted using FAT32 for maximum compatibility.

However, FAT32 has a 4GB file size limitation. The video file may be larger than that. As was asked, is that the only file that has that problem?
