Hello All
I recently bought a new sony external DVD RW burner 710UL. I tried burning DVD-R 4.7GB 8X speed on it. But when I try to burn them, its too slow. It takes about 3 hours to burn data about 4.24 Gb on it. WHen I googled and found out that it only takes about 15 minutes to burn data DVD-R with speed of 8x. I am using Nero to burn my dvdr discs.
If anyone can help me to figure out that where am I going wrong, I will really appreciate. My main concern is the time. yes I have usb1 port on my laptop. if this is the problem, when what should I do (I just have a laptop).
Thanks.(Nanda Saini)

Your problem is simple. You are using a USB interface. I think you have a USB 1.1 port at 12 Mbs. The best you can do is about DVD 1x.

Since this is a laptop the only possible solution is to get a USB2 PCMCIA card.

hi

I have not used usb 2.0 earlier and also my laser printer, mouse, external hard drive and a lot of stuff works on usb1.1. if I buy a USB2 PCMCIA card, will it interfere with my printer and other device settings.

If anyone can help me to understand that if i install drivers for USB2, whether it will mess up my other devices working on usb 1.1. I have little knowledge of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To add up, I am thinking of buying USB2 PCMCIA card because my external dvd writer attached to my laptop burns dvd's at very very slow speed but on the other hand I am afraid that I might mess up my other devices working on usb1.1.

Thanks again
